Taxpayers facing any issues can raise a grievance on the income tax portal. Taxpayers can submit the grievances related to AO, NSDL, UTISL, CPC-ITR, CPC-TDS, E-filing Website team, according to the income tax department’s website.

Here's a look at how you can raise any sort of grievance you have related to e-filing on the income tax department’s website.

e-Filing of Income Tax Return or Forms and other value-added services & Intimation, Rectification, Refund and other Income Tax Processing Related Queries. These numbers are open from 27th July – 08:00 hrs to 31st July 23:59 hrs.

Step 1: Visit the Income-tax portal and log in entering your login credentials.
Step 2: Click on Submit Grievance under Grievances
Step 3: Select relevant department under which grievance is to be submitted. There are 8 heads under which you can file.

Step 4: For example, if you select e-Filing, select category and sub category from dropdown.

Note: This department handles any complaints about efiling portal registration, profile, or password, ITR/Form verification, e-proceedings, Instant PAN (e-PAN) through Aadhar, or Cybercrime (connected to income tax) must be filed with this department. Step 5: Fill in the required details related to category selected. Write grievance description in the relevant box. You will have upload attachments.
Step 6: Click on ‘Submit Grievance.’

According to the Income tax website, areas of grievances that can get resolved:

e-Filing
This department deals with e-Filing of Income Tax Return or Statutory Forms and other value added services like e-verification & e-proceedings etc. Any grievances related to efiling portal registration, profile or password, verification of ITR/Forms, e-proceedings, Instant PAN (e-PAN) through Aadhar or Cybercrime (related to income tax) shall be logged under this department.

AO
Assessing Officers are designated income tax officers who handle the assessment of taxpayers under their jurisdiction and can be contacted for ITR related specific queries. Grievances related to Refund, Rectification, Demand correction, Appeal order, PAN related application or any other miscellaneous application pending with AO shall be logged under this department.

CPC-TDS
This department is associated with e-TDS scheme. Any grievance related to portal access/registration, processing of TDS statements, Defaults, Challan/BIN corrections, Form 26AS, Form 16/27D, TDS Refunds and TDS on Sale of property shall be logged under this department.

UTIITSL
This department deals with issuance of PAN/ TAN and related queries. Any grievances related to Discrepancy/Errors in PAN application, Allotment of same PAN to multiple entities, Logistics (Delivery of PAN card) or Aadhar Seeding shall be logged under this department.

NSDL
This department deals with issuance of PAN and related queries. Any grievances related to Rejected/Pending PAN application, Discrepancy/Errors in PAN application, Allotment of same PAN to multiple entities, Logistics (Delivery of PAN card) or Aadhar Seeding shall be logged under this department.

CPC-ITR
This department handles Income Tax Returns processing. All grievance related to ITR-V status, Intimations or Notices u/s 139(9) or 143(1), Refund not received, Income Tax Processing Related processes, Social Media grievance or Feedbacks shall be logged under this department.

SBI
This department deals with issuance of tax refunds to the taxpayer post ITR processing. Any grievances related to Refund Failed, Refund credited in wrong account and Refund paid but not credited in account shall be logged under this department.

DIT(Systems)
This department manages Information Technology related systems in the Income Tax department. Any technical issues in e-Filing website, PAN related, Tax payment system (OLTAS), Escalation on existing Refund Banker (SBI) issues, Assessment and Information mismatch shall be logged under this department.
